This ambition can lead to great things, or it can make Slytherins seem pushy and power-hungry. When it comes to the traits of a Slytherin, I think that there are a pretty even combination of good and less good traits. For example, I don’t think it’s wrong to be a goal-oriented person.

Then, both Snape and Slughorn were Slytherins that turned out to be very good men (admittedly Snape wasn’t always, but he chose the right path in the end).
